Clearwater sits in the Horse Creek Valley between Graniteville and the river, with Bath, Langley and Burnettown strung along the same creek. Like its neighbours it grew around the mills, and much of it sits on genuinely low ground beside the water.
This is the one part of our map where damp beats sand. Along the creek bottom the slabs sit close to ground that holds water most of the year, and an unsealed concrete floor wicks that moisture upward — so everything anchored within a few inches of the floor lives in humid air even when the weather is dry. Bottom brackets, cable anchors, track feet and the bottom section itself go first here, and they go by corrosion rather than abrasion. Galvanised hardware is the standard specification on the low streets, and we check the floor-level assembly before anything else on every call.
